The supplier guarantees, that all receiving biological material has been tested of being not harmful or pathogenic to humans in any case!
All data and materials derived are the physical and intellectual property of the customer and will be kept strictly confidential. We store all sample, libraries and data for limited time. Upon request, we provide customers within this time with their samples and libraries on their own expenses. As soon as your project is finished, you will receive an e-mail listing details on storage times and contact information to initialize retrieval of your samples. Upon expiry of this period, samples, libraries and sequencing data will be trashed.
Please acknowledge the services of the Max Planck-Genome-centre Cologne in your publication(s), like:
In the Materials and Methods section:
“… was performed by the Max Planck-Genome-centre Cologne, Germany (https://mpgc.mpipz.mpg.de/home/).”
In the acknowledgment section at the end of the manuscript:
“We thank the Max Planck-Genome-centre Cologne (http://mpgc.mpipz.mpg.de/home/) for performing … in this study.”
Please inform us with detailed title and author list about any publications in which the Max Planck-Genome-centre Cologne is acknowledged.

The Max Planck-Genome-Centre Cologne (MP-GC) is a core facility performing next generation sequencing (NGS). It is open for scientists of institutes and departments within the Max Planck Society which contribute to MP-GC by financial support. We provide sequencing service for different NGS technologies (short-read sequencing with Illumina sequencing technology and long-read sequencing with Pacific Biosciences and Oxford Nanopore sequencing technology).
A major distinguishing feature of the MP-GC from commercial sequencing providers is the flexible planning and processing of sequencing projects according to the scientist’s specific requirements. Our services cover standard or high molecular weight DNA extractions, RNA extractions, sample and library quality checks, material clean-up, library preparation, sequencing and data analysis for individual NGS projects. Furthermore, we perform development of non-standard methods and work with all kinds of critical and low scale input material. Due to individual barcoding of each sample, we are able to offer very flexible sequencing conditions. Additionally, we provide bioinformatic analysis such as differential gene expression analysis or genome assemblies.
The spectrum of library preparation covers whole genome amplification (WGA) libraries, transposase-based libraries, amplicon generation and preparation of sequencing libraries, exome enrichment libraries, directional RNA sequencing and small RNA libraries, methylome or bisulfite libraries, and ChIP libraries for short-read sequencing. We also offer single cell sequencing with several pipelines e.g. from 10x Genomics, partly in combination with cell sorting. For long-read sequencing we offer (1) standard size-selected long-read, (2) high fidelity (HiFi) or (3) ultralow libraries for DNA and (tailored or standard) full-length cDNA sequencing for RNA with PacBio and ultralong DNA sequencing with Oxford Nanopore.
